Information:

Formentera is a Mediterranean island and municipality that is part of the Balearic archipelago. Together with the island of Ibiza and several islets it forms the so-called Pitiusas Islands (“Illes Pitiüses” in Catalan).

The island of Formentera is the smallest inhabited island of the Balearic Islands and the southernmost. It is located south of the island of Ibiza, from which it is separated by a channel of 3.6 km. Its nearest point on the Iberian Peninsula is Denia (Alicante), 100 km away. It has 69 km of coastline, full of beaches and cliffs of great beauty. It is a very flat island, with a maximum height of 192 m (La Mola cliffs).

The climate is mild, with an average annual temperature of 18.6 degrees Celsius and 2,883 hours of sunshine per year on average.

The vegetation, of Mediterranean type, combines dune areas with pine forests, juniper and scrubland.

To the north of the island there are several uninhabited islets, the most important of which are Espalmador (about 240 ha) and Espardell (60 ha). +Info
